[edit] Overview
The Arayins (Ah-Ray-Ins) originate from the planet Araya, located in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) Galaxy. Araya is also the seat of the Arayin Imperial Republic, the governing body of the Arayins. The Republic, as it is known in the LMC is a large interspecies government, similar to the Federation.
[edit] Physiology
They appear rather lanky compared to most humanoids, but their bones have much higher density than that of humans or similar species. There systems also have a much higher content of metals in their systems (Roughly 20 times that of humans). They are also telepathic roughly on par with Betazoids or Vulcans, 1 in 1 Billion has powerful enough telepathic abilities to force other to bend to there will. The rest of the population can usually only communicate with other Arayins or other telepaths.
The Arayins evolved from avians, but they have lost most features, (wings, feathers, beaks, etc..) They do have very good eye sight, hearing, and sense of smell. There sense of taste is however very underdeveloped, as such food is not a large part of there culture and while average food is quit blah the cultural dishes they do have are quiet flavorful, so much so that it rarely can be enjoyed by non Arayins. Their facial features are rather pointed, along with their highbrow and tall height they can be seen as very intimating. Despite there apparent thin form they are quit strong, (stronger than the average Klingons or Vulcan). They have a deep sense of honor however they direct most of there efforts into sciences and art.
There Skin Tone is usually pale red and often appearers to glow in low light. Their hair is commonly Blue-green but other colours are not unheard of. Their eyes are florescent yellow-green, but the very strong telepaths have pink eyes.
While lean they do have defined musculature; they have an almost natural armor plate in their chest and down spine and have a very high metabolism, as such its rare to see an overweight Arayin. They also eat 6 meals a day, eating every 4 hours. Similar to Denobulans they only sleep for about 10 days a year, most commonly this is broken into a winter hibernation of 5 days and a summer hibernation of 5 days. The Ministry of Health, to help prevent the entire species form sleeping at the same time, often offers regulations for the cycles. If woken prematurely, it take about 2 hours before they can function normally, they also suffer from sever fatigue until they can complete they're cycle, they often need to repeat they cycle from the beginning.
The population is rather large, about 90,000,000,000 in the LMC. It is roughfly a 50/50 slpit between males and females. The normal Arayin life span is about 150 years.

The Government is lead by the 'Supreme High Chancellor of the Council of Ministers of the Arayin Imperial Republic', commonly know as the Supreme High Chancellor, or simply “Madam Chancellor”, (the current Chancellor is female). The Council of Ministers was formed 600 years ago following the end of Marshall Law declared during the civil war. When the war ended the leader of the new combined military, originally the Chief Commissioner (then High Commissioner) of one of the largest powers, who had been elected formed the council and relieved herself of duty. Shortly there after she was elected, becoming the first Chancellor. The first Chancellor is seen as the most influential figure in Arayins history, Chancellor Ulenaica (Ew-Lee-Anne-Ic-Ah).
Once elected the Chancellor can remain Chancellor for up to 25 years, in 5-year terms. Chancellor Ulenaica is the only exception; she was Chancellor for 73 years until her death by natural causes. The Council of Ministers is made up of 41 “Regional Ministers” and 13 “Tasked Ministers” the tasked ministers are nominated by the Chancellor and selected by the Regional Ministers. In addition there are 5 indivudles know as High Ministers, the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, Minister of Public Safety and Home Word Security, Minister of Exploration and Minister of Public Affairs. The five High Ministers lead the council but a collective Ministerial Vote makes decisions.
The Current Chancellor, Elizabendra (Eliz-Ah-Ben-Dra) comes from a distinguished family, her grandfather was also Chancellor. She has been Chancellor for 12 years, just elected to her third term. She has announced she will no run for reelection making this her final term. She is known to be outspoken but fair and just.

While most rank systems evolved form either the army or marine corps of planets the system here evolved form that of the police and Air Force. Marshall law had been declared and the police where placed in charge, the Chief Commissioner, or Chief of Police had been made leader of the government. Several years later following the formation of the Arayin Aeronautical and Space Force, or Sky Force its nickname, the rank structure was formed using the common points from all related branches. Another difference is that they have one line, no warrants or enlisted, whoever the 3 lowest levels, (Constable/Private, Corporal, Sergeant) often sever the roles that would be occupied by NCO’s.
Military service is non-mandatory, however it is a great honor, about 1 in 9 are currently part of the military and expeditionary force. The military is strong but not a concurring force. Currently only 4 different versions of ships are in service. They’re fleet is designed this way to allow for quick training and construction and repair. The four styles of ships used are: Delta Class Scouts, Oracle Class Explorers, Raptor Class Cruiser and Retribution Class Heavy Cruisers.
The Arayin Police Command (APC), is responsible for the security of Arayins Colonies and the home world. They are rarely present on starships but on occasion Superintendents and Chief Superintendents (Equivalent to Starfleet Commodores and Rear Admirals) have been put in command of military operations. They may also be involved in first contacts. The Chief Commissioner and the Master Air Marshal, to which there is only one of each at a time, are part of the Council of Ministers, as Minister of Public Safety and Home Word Security (The Chief Commissioner), and Minister of Exploration (Master Air Marshal) or if there are at war it becomes the Minister of War.
The Arayin Aeronautical and Space Force (AASF), is similar to Starfleet in the sense that it is responsible for both the protection of the Arayins Republic and its science and exploration. Following the formation of the Sky Force, the remain marine and army personnel of the planet were combined into Ground Force, a separated yet contained entity, like the Starfleet Marine Corps. 200 Years ago following a major restructure to the Sky Force, the Ground Force was incorporated into the Sky Force more completely, making it it's own department but using ranks, uniforms, etc... of the Sky Force. Ground Force and Security are two separate Departments but work closing, just like the Marines and Security of Starfleet.

The Arayins hail from a large system in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC). They alliance government covers roughly 80% of the galaxy. They have slipstream and first contact was made with a group using a new type of Intergalactic Drive, called Hyper Drive, allowing transport to the Milky way in about 11 days.

The Arayins technology is more advanced than federation in most areas. They have slipstream drive, particle synthesis, advance sensors and weapons, etc…
