Destination Gamma was the 2nd Bismarck mission and ran from August 28 – November 15, 2006.
[edit] Summary
The USS Bismarck is tasked by Colonel Kira - commander of DS9 - to escort a convoy of Bajoran freighters to Ha'Kejal, a Bajoran Colony in the Gamam Quadrant’s Theta Helios system. Much to her surprise, Lt. Kane (who only recently had been made XO) will be commanding the Bismarck for this short mission. The convoy transits the Bajoran wormhole to the Idran system, but two freighters have problems and drop out of warp. Kane and Soarka butt heads over Soarka’s decision to bring the a pregnant women aboard.
There are no life signs aboard the two stalled freighters. Away teams discover that both freighters are heavily damaged and all of the people on the two ships to be dead. Lt Laikan senses something watching the away teams. On the second ship, 2nd Lt Langdon plays the Captain’s log – something happened to the crew just as the ship lost power. Back on the Bismarck, the new Bajoran-Cardassian Chief Intelligence Officer Lt Tethal studies data. Delta Flyer 1 detects a warp trail, so Kane orders Captain Mendor to the vessel to take command and follow the trail. Lt Serege encounters his old Academy roommate, George, as a crewman in his department. Dr. Valen finds a cure for the parasites that killed the freighter crews. Before they can get underway the USS Bismarck is attacked by two unknown marauders. The pirates transport off a wide range of items from the Bismarck. The pirates’ weapons are surprisingly effective against the Refit Intrepid Class. When they arrive at the Ha'Kejal the joint Bajoran Federation instillation, Kane finds out she's been put in permanent command of the Bismarck and that they are now based out of Starbase 836 - the first Federation Starbase in the Gamma Quadrant, and the second Bajoran-Federation joint venture.
2nd Lt Langdon has an idea about who would infect the colonists and hails Lt Kane. Dr Valen has the infested persons in isolation aboard Delta 1, PFC Hampton starts to feel ill, and Valen finds the parasites inside the food packs which Hampton consumes. Dr Valen discovers that antibodies in Hampton’s blood can kill the parasites, and cures the survivors. The convoy approaches the Theta Helios system. Durai, with experience in counter-espionage, volunteers to go aboard the Bismarck . Kairi sketches the image of the alien captain that she saw telepathically. Lt Kane assigned Lt Cdr Durai to work under Lt (JG) Serege.
The Bismarck arrives in the Theta Helios system, and the USS Yukon takes over escort duty for the freighters. Lt Kane and some of her senior staff beam down to the colony, and meets with the Bajoran colony leaders . Minister Balin reports that many in the colony are infected with the parasite. Commodore Addison James, CO of the Prometheus – class USS Tirpitz, arrives at the Theta Helios colony to take over command of all Starfleet personnel based at the colony.

- Lieutenant Alexandra Kane is promoted to Lieutenant Commander, made 'Acting' Commanding Officer and awarded the Starfleet Star.
- Lieutenant Junior Grade Lujan Serege is promoted to Lieutenant.
- Second Lieutenant Jason Langdon is promoted to First Lieutenant and awarded the Act of Distinction.
- Staff Sergeant Shawna Campbell is commissioned as First Lieutenant and awarded the Medal of Honor.
- Lieutenant Soarka Valen is awarded the Captain's Star.
- Lieutenant Kairi Laikan is awarded the Decoration of Gallantry.

- This was the first mission with James Slattery in command of the Bismarck. It also served as his Command School Intern Mission.
