The Dogossi are an extremely cold-adapted race of Avian stock. The USS Athena discovered them on their home moon, orbiting a gas giant. They are a peaceful, warp-capable species, but prefer to stay on their home world.

When the moon (and the planet it orbits) enters the warmer habitable zone, their entire race hibernates in cyrogenic suspension.

The Dogossi have a computer, named Memodis, which refreshes their memories when they awaken from centuries of slumber. This device was malfunctioning from disrepair, and a chronoton discharge sent the USS Athena back to the year 2342. In the past The Athena had to defeat Tholians, who were attacking (and almost destroyed) the Enterprise C, which history records being lost in the year 2344.
