[edit] BACKGROUND

Hannah Conant was born in 2359 to career Marine Andrew Conant and his wife in San Fransisco while Andrew served at Starfleet Command. Her parents had difficulty conceiving, and Hannah grew up as an only child. Having a marine father instilled a deep sense of military discipline in Hannah. She also never really had a permanent home. She was used to moving every couple years, and as such found it difficult to make lasting friends - the only one being her cat.

Hannah found her cat 'Spot' on Starbase 97 as a stray when she was 11 years old. Her family, aware that their daughter found it difficult making friends, allowed her to adopt the cat. It wasn't until much later that she discovered the true nature of the 'animal'. While she was in secondary school, Hannah accidentally located an access panel into the cat's positronic net. The cat was a variation on the Soong-type androids made famous by a certain Starfleet officer. The origins of the cat are still unknown, and what research Hannah performed always came up empty.

The cat, along with Hannah's mechanical aptitude, moved her to pursue robotics. Being used to the lifestyle, it was only fitting that she applied for Starfleet Academy. She did well in classwork, especially her science concentration. Even here at the Academy she kept herself distant and professional, only really opening up to her cat. What time she spent outside class or her dorm was spent in the gym learning some mixed martial arts as a pragmatic approach to self-defense.

While Hannah had no shortage of men attempting to gian her affections, she always rebuffed them. Her life was the Service, so she didn't meet many civilians. And with her by-the-book view on fraternization, a relationship wasn't an option.

Following her graduation from Starfleet Academy with honours, Hannah was posted aboard the USS Nova as a science officer. The small community of that vessel promoted her professional lifestyle. Nicholas Davies, the Assistant Chief and her direct supervisor, lauded her professionalism in her performance reports. He recommended her for Assistant Chief in her next assignment, which she recieved upon her posting to the USS Athena in 2385. Upon arriving at her assignment, she was surprised to find that because the Chief had been reassigned, she was given the position.

During her assignment on the Athena, Hannah has remained professional at all times, even putting her fears aside when dealing closely with the Borg. She was most proud of the discoveries she had made in relation to the nature and formation of the Delta Triangle.

Her free time has been mostly taken up by clubs and bars on Starbase 218, though she has recently discovered a few fairy tale holonovels, including some interesting new imaginings of the classics.

Strengths
While Hannah takes a by-the-book approach to military discipline, she takes a seat-of-the-pants approach to science. She has also dabbled a little in mixed martial arts, though she is far from an expert.

Hannah keeps her professional and private lives distinctly separate, sometimes difficult to befriend in a personal manner, she will not date a fellow service member.
