Kelly Miller is currently the Mayor of Lake Anvil on Dorvan 5.

[edit] BACKGROUND

Kelly James Miller was born on the 8th of June 2353 in Inverness, Scotland to Helen and Steven Miller. Kelly spent much of his early life up in the Highlands of Scotland learning about his Scottish heritage. It was when Kelly was studying his heritage during his teenage years when he discovered that he enjoyed studying the battle’s of the 18th 19th and 20th centuries seeing how tactics changed with the evolving weaponry yet still held the same basic principals. It was also in his teenage years when Kelly’s Father, Steven Miller, a retired Starfleet CONN Officer, taught Kelly how to pilot shuttles in the Glen’s of the Highlands. Kelly was going to follow in his fathers foot steps and become a CONN Officer in Starfleet but when Kelly completed his Starfleet Aptitude test it was discovered that Kelly could do well in the Diplomatic Field due to his great patience and communication abilities. Though Starfleet Academy were not the only ones who saw the results of Kelly’s Aptitude test. It was also seen by some people at Starfleet Intelligence, who decided that it would be a good idea to follow this young cadet’s career as he may make a good addition to the Intelligence Community.

Upon Kelly’s graduation from Starfleet academy a conflict with the Dominion was a real threat. Those in Starfleet Intelligence who thought that Kelly would be a good asset in the future decided in light of this new threat that they would draft Kelly in to the intelligence service sooner than expected. So Kelly was assigned to Starfleet Intelligence straight out of the academy. Kelly’s first assignment with SI was to work as an analyst dealing with the Romulan Star Empire writing reports on the activity of the Romulans Intelligence Service the Tal Shiar. Kelly served in Starfleet Intelligence for the duration of the Dominion War all the time working on the analysing all the information that came in about the Romulans. After 4 years in the back rooms of Starfleet intelligence having earned quite a reputation for himself, Kelly decided that the working in intelligence was not for him and requested a transfer to a ship where he could use the diplomatic skills that he had learned at the Academy.

So in 2377 along with a promotion to Lieutenant Junior Grade, Kelly Miller was transferred to the USS Trent as Assistant Chief Diplomatic Officer. While on the Trent Kelly distinguished himself on numerous occasions, participated in 2 first contact situations. For one of which he received the distinguished honour of receiving the Captain’s Star. Kelly felt like he had found his niche in Starfleet finally putting the years that he had been stuck behind a desk at Starfleet Intelligence behind him. It was aboard the USS Trent where Kelly met his current girlfriend, Nikki Leech. The two met only a few weeks after Kelly transferred aboard and with in weeks of dating, through contraception mishap Nikki informed Kelly that she was expecting his child. Kelly was over the moon at the news and at first thought about proposing marriage to Nikki. But after discussing it with Nikki they decided that marriage now after only knowing each other a short while would only lead to it ending in disaster and Kelly has never brought the subject up again.

Kelly’s career took another unexpected turn in 2379 when Shinzon took over the Romulan Star Empire for a short time. After this upheaval of Romulan politics and the vacuum left by the ordeal the Romulan Empire Starfleet Command was worried about the effect events would have on the Federation. Kelly knowing something about the Romulan Star Empire from his time in Starfleet Intelligence was posted to one of the many starbases along the Romulan Neutral Zone after turning down the opportunity to rejoin the intelligence community because his Girlfriend Nikki was expecting their second child. With Kelly’s Intelligence and diplomatic background he was assigned to Starbase 23 as their Strategic Operations Officer. While on Starbase 23 Kelly undertook an expansion course in Flight Control to add to his resume.

Kelly’s next career move came in 2381 when he was assigned to assist the USS Edison in the investigation of a Tal Shiar Sect that had stolen some Federation Technology. Upon completion of the assignment he was offered the post of ‘acting’ executive officer aboard the Edison after their Executive Officer was lost during the mission.

During his time aboard the Edison, Kelly undertook the Starfleet Command School Course. Though as time progressed Kelly found that the Command Position he held was not his cup of tea and chose to step down from his position as Executive Officer to take up a Diplomatic Post on Outpost G12: Lacirem Nor. Kelly remained on G-12 until June 2382.

Just after Kelly’s 30’th Birthday he chose to relocate himself and his Family to Dorvan 5. At this time Dorvan 5 was a backwater colony, with his family growing Kelly and Nikki decided that a planet would be a good place to raise their family. Not long after their arrival on Dorvan 5 Kelly was approached by the local comunity about taking a seat on the Lake Anvil Settlement Council. At first Kelly was reluctant to do, but after talking with Nikki about it he accepted the post. Then durng the elections at the start of 2385 Kelly was elected as the Mayor of Lake Anvil. It was at this time that Kelly and Nikki's fourth child was born.
