[edit] BACKGROUND
Mik was born to Peter and Kalina H'doorn. Peter had been a Starfleet engineer for 8 years till he met Kalina. After a year dating Peter resigned to be civil engineer on Betazet with new bride Kalina.
Kalina worked on the ER of a civil hospital in Jelandor (Betazet)when she met Peter. A big accident on the starfleet base near Jelandor caused more patients then the starfleet hospital could handle and the overflow was send to the Jelandor civil hospital ER. Peter dated his ER doctor whilst
recovering from his wounds. After 3 months he requested a transfer to Betazet. After a year he was transferred to DS9 but he resigned to live on Betazed. 12 Months after marriage Mik was born. Mik grew up among full Betazoids knowing he was different because of his human side. He was a good learner,
good athlete and had many friends. Then he became of age. He was expected to develop empathic skills, but the human/betazoid mixed genes produced a problem. The telepathic part of his brain under developed and his body tried to compensate by using other parts of
the brain. This caused him to be stuck in a telepathic block. An other side affect is his Social emotional agnosia. No longer able to tell what emotion others have, he came of as a total jerk. The doctors in neurology could not treat him without risking total brain failure.
They moved to earth to start a new life and both Peter and Kalina joined Starfleet. Mik swore to him self to "fix" his brain, so when he could he attended medical school. His learning skills and determination brought him to the second year, worst student in his class by lack of natural talent.
He did find his natural talent of fixing computers and most of the geneticist equipment around. Seeing his dream of being a geneticist fail he studied engineering. He became one of the best of his class. During his third year engineering he read a log that gave him more hope. An incident on the USS Casey where the EMH started genetically tinkering and cloning tribbels and attempted to clone the captain. Two security officers where suspected of tampering with the EMH. Mik figured a properly "trained" EMH might be persuaded to help him "fix" his brain.
His graduation project was a one man spacecraft that he named "the Pod". Two times the seize of an empty photon torpedo casing, can achieve warp 1.5 no weapons or place for adding weapons. With his parents in Starfleet and his new interest in the EMH the choice to join was an easy one.

Talents/Abilities: Fast in coming up with solutions to problems, good medic, average fighter, average piloting skills.
Special Abilities: He has the ability to block telepathic races sensing abilities.
Strengths: Good at coming up with "creative" solutions to engineering problems to get things working again fast. Usually these solutions are not conform any safety regulations nor do they look good.
Limitations: His telepathic blocking abilities are always on, making it impossible for him to sense others. His Social emotional agnosia makes it impossible to recognize other peoples emotions the way "normal" people do.
Likes: computers, androids, robots, machines.
Dislikes: being around telepaths, especially in a social setting.
Ambitions: getting his brain "fixed" so he can read peoples feelings.
Quirks: He has a tendency to be quiet, but his dry dark humor usualy comes out on the most inappropriate times.

Due to Mik's Social emotional agnosia, his social skills are poor. He seems to be frustrated a lot by his lack of social skills. His permanent telepathic block causes telepaths to distrust him making it even harder for him to work with them.
