New Deridious was a colony based civilian simulation situated on Norvan III. The colony was situated near the Gorn Neutral Zone and was granted to the Federation by the Gorn after the destruction of Deridous IV, nearly 300 LY from Earth. Starbase 218 was the nearest Starfleet post.
New Deridous evolved out of the former Tango Fleet sim Deridous IV.

[edit] History
(Deridous IV history is located on that page)
2382
The end of Deridous IV had finally come. An almighty effort raised by local civilian ships, Starfleet vessels, and even the occasional Klingon craft managed to lift survivors from the a planet literally on the brink of falling apart. However, despite their unrelenting efforts, less than 10,000 survived, and where Deridous IV once was, a field of asteroids now drifts.
As the fleet of homeless survivors fled the dead system, hospitality from an unexpected source provided them with a new world to call their own: a Gorn, a former Officer of Starfleet and now an Ambassador; negotiated for an uninhabited world to be ceded to Starfleet as a home for the Deridous survivors. The intentions of the Gorn are unclear, and speculations have run riot: many believe that this is a genuine gesture of friendship, and represents a turning of Gorn attitudes in the wake of their recent coup d'etat. Others believe that it is merely a hollow gesture, meant to avoid provoking the Gorn into a war with the Federation that they are ill-equipped to win.
2383
Starfleet dispatched a Corps of Engineers unit to make preparations for the arrival of the survivors, constructing temporary shelters and facilities that should be enough to sustain the fledgling colony until more permanent structures can be built. All that lay between the rag-tag fleet and their new home was several weeks of perilous travel across Federation border space; regions rife with ion storms, navigational obstacles, and the ever-present threat of pirate attack...
By mid-2383 the fledgling colony had began to thrive, and new groups of settlers began to arrive. But late just after the colony marked the destruction of their former world, near disaster loomed. Their new world seemed to be tearing itself apart as ancient terraforming machines suddenly came to life.
2384
The ancient machinery couldn't withstand the years, and one by one they shut down in catastrophic fashion - In the end only a handful were left for scientists and engineers to study. The surface of New Deridous was re-drawn somewhat.
