Recommissioned from the Cardassian Nor-class station built in the Tamoan System near the Tzenkethi Border. In 2380 the Treaty of Tamoa was signed handing control of the station over to the Federation

[edit] Background Information

The Dominion War, the ultimate conflict of the twenty fourth century, left the great powers of the Alpha and Beta Quadrant in ruins, economically, militarily and socially. The war, enveloping the Breen Confederation, the Cardassian Union, the Dominion, the Klingon Empire, the Romulan Star Empire, the United Federation of Planets and a plethora of smaller powers, left the Alpha and Beta Quadrants in political cascade. It is in the fraught, but victorious environment of post-war Alpha Quadrant, that the station Lacirem Nor, is located. Her fate, decided and legislated in the 2380 Treaty of Tamoa, placed her under the control of Starfleet, the principal exploratory and defensive agency of the United Federation of Planets.

In orbit around the O-Class planet Tamoa IV, the station originally assembled to mine and process the rich Dilithium deposits within the planet’s crust, is now facing a new dawn. Having been abandoned in 2368, as the Dilithium deposits were exhausted, the station was effectively a backwater until the Dominion War, during which she was used as one of several key bases, owing to her strategic position on the Cardassian-Federation-Tzenkethi border, it was with this in mind that her control was hard wrestled from the Detapa Council in negotiation. In addition to increasingly frosty relations with the Cardassian Union, the Tzenkethi Coalition continues to be a diplomatic enigma, with various factions constantly vying for power and a fragile peace treaty, make the Tzenkethi a constant diplomatic factor.

As such the refitted, rusting space frame of Lacirem Nor, or rather Outpost G-12 - (her Starfleet designation, a continuation of the Gorgo Outpost project, is the epicenter of a new wave of activity, and galactic cooperation. The outpost, is awakening; with technological integration and upgrades, and removal of the Dilithium mining facilities in favor of greater commercial and military capacity, the base provides a growing center of trade and an effective military platform. With the supplementary support of two utility vessels, the Defiant-class U.S.S. Fearless NCC-87624-A, and the Nova-class U.S.S. Hawking NCC-79862 and a compliment of six runabouts, the outpost is well equipped for exploratory, reconstructive and defensive endeavors.

In the two years that followed the signing to the Treaty of Tamoa, the station had become the epicenter of a new trading route, creating connections and links between the smaller and larger powers of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants. A Federation Colony has been established on Tamoa IV and who share resources with the already existing Cardassian Colonies. Ties that were once thought impossible have now become reality.

In 2382, under the leadership of Gul Krintac, the commander of the Cardassian Free People’s Military, Cardassia opened negotiations with the Federation Government and the Romulan Star Empire, with plans of a new and radical venture, a joint effort to further scientific knowledge and extend the known universe.

The Valteras Treaty was drawn up and signed by the three great powers and thus leading the way for the future into the unknown. The treaty, although does not stipulate the sharing of resources, allows Starfleet, Cardassian and Romulan personnel to serve along side each other aboard Outpost G12, within the Valteras System.

Located approximately 10 lightyears from the Vanden System and approximately 45 lightyears from Federation Space, The Valteras System is suitably located for discovering new planets and meeting new civilisations.

In the early part of 2383, Starfleet made the decision to decommission Outpost G12.

Tom Hamilton - ALICIA BALLENTYNE (CO) Tom was the founding commanding officer of this sim and one that will be remembered for a while I believe. As well as being the CO of Outpost G12, Tom was also a past CO of the USS Bismarck, a Task Force Commander and Tango Fleet DCinC, among other positions. He was, when he was with us, a dedicated player, one I had the pleasure of serving with on more than one occasion.

David Patterson - EDWARD SAMUELS (XO) David has been with the sim for a very long time and it is sad to see him leave. He has served in numerous positions on this very sim, as well as other positions throughout Tango Fleet and its reincarnated fleet, Sixth Fleet. Dave has also served as Executive Officer aboard the station for a number of months, keeping me on the straight and narrow throughout the time. He has shown dedication to G12 and his presence will always be felt. He will definitely be missed.

Eric Goldberg - THRAIN (MARINE COMPANY COMMANDER) Eric joined the sim from the USS Hyperion with loads of ideas that has allowed us to develop the marine company into what it is today. He portrayed a great character and his posts were always interesting to read. His contribution to the sim will be remembered always since he showed dedication whilst he was with us. Sadly, Eric passed away in 2006, we will always remember him.
