Ensign Rena M'tara-Oda is a Science Officer, currently serving aboard the Nebula-class starship USS Cambrian (NCC-74986-A).
[edit] BACKGROUND
What can be said about Rena, she is the older of only two children. She spent half her time in San Fransisco and the other half on Qo’noS. During that time she spent training for her rite of ascension and learning the history of her people. Her grandfather would take her all around teaching her about the land and the people, and training her in combat. Her favorite spot being the Great Hall in Qam’chee. She loves the story of Kahlee and Lady Lukara it makes her feel like she can be a proud warrior even though she’s a woman.
The other half of her time was spent on Earth, learning about her Japanese heritage. She realized in a lot of ways the Japanese culture resembled the Klingons, but she also was glad to see that they did other things than just fight; it is what inspired here to become a scientist later on in life.
At age six she began training with weapons both Japanese and Klingon, and at ten was able to hold her own in any situations. As a teen she was known for walking around with daggers strapped to her thighs, and at sixteen found herself in a situation were she had to use them. It was a day her high school let out early. She was walking with a boy she had a crush on and a classmate who liked the same boy came from behind and stabbed her. Though she didn’t kill the girl she did leave her with horrible wounds, to the face and side.
Her interest in science came when she was twelve and studying about the leaps and bounds the Japanese made after Earth’s World War II. It excited her of course then engineers and scientists almost worked in the same capacity, she couldn’t imagine that now. At seventeen she graduated early and entered the academy. Now she is a promising scientist and hopes to make a hell of an officer.
[edit] Starfleet Career
Rena was an incredible cadet who showed great potential in astronomy and robotics. In her first year she wowed her instructors with a robotic and computer simulation of delta quadrant or what was known of it. Her eye for detail and design as well as her ability to tie the two together was what helped her graduate at the top of her class with honors. During her senior year she was asked by the Chief of Starfleet’s Science department to join him on a mission to update some charts for the Starfleet database. She was able to use and learn more about the solar system than just sitting in a class could provide and learned a few tricks from a seasoned veteran. Upon graduation she was told that she would have the honor of serving on the USS Cambrian in the Sixth Fleet.
