Richard Marcinko is a Master Sergeant and is Currently the Fleet Sergeant of the Sixth Fleet Marine Corps.

[edit] BACKGROUND

Richard Marcinko was born in Lansford, Pennsylvania on November 21, 2325. Seventeen years later, he enlisted into Starfleet. Marcinko orignally wished for a position in operations, however his tendency to constantly question authority and his gruff demeanor made graduation questionable at best. Within his first year Richard engaged in a fight with a fellow cadet, sending him to the infirmary.

The incident happened days after the passing of the Marine Corps Act of 2342, and the newly developed Corps was scouring the campus for potential prospects. Disenfranchised with the rebellious youth, the officer in charge of training gave Marcinko a choice; fall in or fall out. Without hesitation, the Richard accepted the transfer, and was a founding member of Training Platoon Number One.

The Corps of the day was a rough, demanding environment. Intense physical conditioning as well as seeming abuse from the instructors led to a very high wash out rate. Recruit Trainee Marcinko was one of the few from the first days who was tempered and forged into a Marine. Looking back, Marcinko is often heard to refer to the grueling training as "perversely enjoyable."

Marcinko went on to duties on both ship and shore, always volunteering himself and later his platoon for the most difficult and dangerous missions he could find. While a hard man to follow, he was also fair. He lived by his own codes, and made his subordinates follow his 'Ten Commandments'. He always led from the front and by example, never leaving a man behind or asking one to do something he was unwilling to do himself. As such, Marcinko's 'Rogue Warriors' were incredibly loyal to their commander and each other.

The Rogue Warriors went on to participate in many conflicts the Federation was involved in, the unconventional way they waged war making them legends in their own right. Marcinko and his platoon were decorated many times in result of their achievements, yet the Federation continuously tried to mainstream the group into a more typical example of a Marine unit.

Marcinko himself continued to defy authority, often finding loopholes in orders to ensure that bureaucracy didn't interfere with the mission. His career is riddled with instances of court martials and reprimands by embarrassed officers. As such, he never rose beyond the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in his thirty-six years of service.

During the Dominion War, his skill and penchant for leaving nothing intact earned him the nickname 'Demo Dick'. His exploits were well known enough that he was one of the Starfleet personnel the Dominion took a personal interest in, putting a bounty on his head in hopes of demoralizing if not stopping the Marine. Demo Dick found the episode humorous, and to this day he keeps a framed copy of the wanted poster in his quarters.

After the war, Marcinko was tried for war crimes due to the severity of his attacks but was acquitted. Following the trial though, the Rogue Warriors were disbanded and Richard was quietly tucked away. Years later, he eventually gained an assignment aboard the USS Destiny-C.

During a large scale battle with the Romulans, Marcinko's Platoon XO, Lt. Skorn was wounded and removed from duty, causing Marcinko to fill his role. Soon afterwards, The Destiny's Captain recieved a lateral promotion and reassignment as a Marine, and was given the command of Starfleet's Special Forces unit SWORD-7. As the crew of the Destiny was disbanded, Marcinko joined with his former Captain, becoming the team's demolitions specialist.

Marcinko would later be tapped by Starfleet Intelligence for an undercover assignment investigating missing weaponry from a Marine supply depot near Bajor. After many months of work he discovered that the disenfranchised Marines based at Camp Pendleton were selling munitions to a group of extremists, unfortunately his cover was compromised in the process. Richard returned to Earth for help, only to find out that SWORD had been broken up and Furry was awaiting trial for the death of the Vice President. With the situation dire, Marcinko tracked down every sympathetic ear he could find. Due in part of his efforts, SWORD was quietly reformed and sent to Dorvan V.

[edit] PERSONAL RECORDS

Marcinko's Ten Commandments

-I am the War Lord and the wrathful God of Combat and I will always lead you from the front, not from the rear.

-I will treat you all alike-just like shit.

-Thou shalt do nothing I will not do first, and thus will you be created Warriors in My deadly image.

-I shall punish thy bodies because the more thou sweatest in training, the less thou bleedest in combat.

-Indeed, if thou hurteth in thy efforts and thou suffer painful dings, then thou art Doing It Right.

-Thou hast not to like it-thou hast just to do it.

-Thou shalt Keep It Simple, Stupid.

-Thou shalt never assume.

-Verily, thou art not paid for thy methods, but for thy results, by which meaneth thou shalt kill thine enemy before he killeth you by any means available.

-Thou shalt, in thy Warrior's Mind and Soul, always remember My ultimate and final Commandment:There Are No Rules-Thou Shalt Win At All Cost.

Personality
Richard Marcinko can best be described as an 'old salt'. His crusty demeanor and dominating personality is balanced out by his ability to lead men and put their needs before his own. There is no middle ground when it comes to this Sergeant; you either love him or hate him.

Strengths
Richard is a hard charging, motivated Marine who will stop at nothing to complete the mission, even if his idea of what the mission is conflicts with his superiors. His lead from the front attitude often gains him great loyalty and respect from the men he commands. He thinks in an unconventional manner, and his tactics follow along the same lines. With a free hand, Marcinko can accomplish almost anything he sets his mind to.

Weaknesses
Marcinko is a product of a different era, when rough commanders and heavy handed tactics were necessary and encouraged. Over the years he has watched with some bitterness as his beloved Corps was slowly transformed into a kinder, gentler version of itself. Demo dick sees this as a travesty, and has taken it as a personal mission to pass on the values of the Marines of old. This crusade often leaves him at odds with new Marines who can't handle the stresses Marcinko places on them as well as his Commanding Officers who see the change of the Corps as a good thing.

[edit] MEDICAL RECORDS

Appearance
Height: 6'2" Weight: 201 lbs. Hair: Black Eyes: Brown

Physical Description
Marcinko's usual hatred for regulations makes him an easily recognizable individual in Starfleet. He has a habit of forsaking the stuffy duty uniforms for more comfortable civilian clothing, and his grooming standards involve long hair usually kept in a ponytail and a thick, greying beard. The thing most commented on is his cold, hard eyes.

Though the Marine is approaching sixty, he is still in top physical condition. He has turned the grueling physical training he endured as a recruit into a morning ritual, often taking three to four hours out of the day for exercise.

Character Background
Commander Richard Marcinko, USN (Ret.) is an award winning author and a retired Naval officer with thirty years of service under his belt. The 'Rogue Warrior' was a major proponent to counter-terror in the U.S., being a large influence in SEAL Team II as well as the creator of SEAL Team VI. He's currently the creator and CEO of both SOS Temps, and Red Cell International; private security contracting and consulting firms. He also hosts a political talkshow on the East Coast.

Mr. Marcinko has been one of the major influences in Chris's life, and is a personal hero who is partially responsible for Ash's military service and security background. The character he plays aboard the Destiny is an homage to the warrior who stopped at nothing to get the job done.
