Based out of Starbase 326 Saphi is the Regional Commander of the Corp of Engineers.
BACKGROUND
Saphi was born on earth in August 2295 with her identical sister Kallie. Their mother had arrived 3 years earlier aboard a refugee transport from the now assimilated El-Aurian homeworld. Her father was in the El-Aurian defense fleet that had been left behind in some attempt to stave of the Borg invasion, he was never heard from again. Saphi and her sister were brought up in California where their mother had gained a job in Starfleet as a scientific advisor as starfleet command. Saphi and her sister had a strong bond during their childhood, as with all El-Aurian twins, the natural empathy of the species is strongly enhanced between them to the point at which they almost feel the same things at the same time. They both attended one of the last remaining all girl schools in California, where they studied in science and literature.
At 18 Saphi joined Starfleet Academy, her sister Kallie waited unsure of what she wanted to do so the pair were partially separated for the first time, however frequent home visits helped. Two years later Kallie also joined. Saphi took a dual course in computer science and engineering, graduation as a science officer. Her first posting was on a 10 year exploration mission aboard the USS Resilient
The mission meant for the next 10 years she would have little or no contact with her family, a very daunting prospect that led to Saphi stuggling to fit in occationally. This eventually led to her falling out with the Chief Science Officer 3 years into the mission and having a large argument with him. This in turn left Saphi confined to quarters for a week.
Because the Resilient wouldn't be in dock again for another 7 years Saphi was reassigned to work under Commander Marcus William Tucker, the ships Chief Engineer. She found Marcus much easier to work with and settled into the new job very well, and four years later she was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade and made the ships Assistant Chief Engineer
Three years later when the Resilient finally returned to spacedock for it's refit, the Chief Engineer was promoted and left the ship, leaving Saphi to step up as the new Chief where she stayed for the next 4 years until the Executive Officer was killed in a skirmish with a Klingon Bird of Prey. Saphi reluctantly became the perminant Executive Officer, leaving the comforts of her engine room behind
She stayed as the ships XO for the next 11 years, and settled into the job nicely, however when the ship came to retirement Saphi was left with another shock, she was assigned as the Commanding Officer of Starbase 210, close to Zeta Laporis and the Klingon Border.
Again Saphi settled into the job, which was only kept from being boring by the commander of the stations Klingon force, Commander Nek'Qua. The Commander became a good friend and in 2367 he commanded one of the rescue ships sent in the aftermath of Wolf 359, he returned to Starbase 210 carrying Saphi's pregnant sister, Kallie, and the news that her Mother and Brother-in-Law had both been killed by the Borg.
Saphi stayed on at Starbase 210 helping to raise her niece, Sal Saphi Leneir with the help of Nek'Qua and his crew surving as a bizzare surragte family. When Kallie resumed her starfleet career choosing to relinquish her commission in favour of an enlisted role, she took up the position as Saphi's master-at-arms, where she stayed for several years before transfering away with Saphi for ship-board duties.
Saphi grew bored very quickly with her sister and niece gone and after a couple of years applied for a transfer to Earth. The transfer was granted and with a promotion to Commodore Saphi took up the position as Head of Research and Design as McKinley Shipyards.
