An officer with background in Operations and Communications, T'Pring is the Chief Operations Officer aboard the USS Cambrian. Her previous postings consisted of short-term career-broadening assignments.
[edit] BACKGROUND
T'Pring is the adoptive daughter of a Vulcan space merchant and a Human musicologist. This unlikely union lasted two decades, T'Pring's mother often away for months at a time.
When Velar died in the line of duty, a broken-hearted Paul Desjani was convinced to leave T'Pring in the care of her Vulcan relatives while he sought treatment for severe depression on Earth. Three years later he had remarried to a widow and was becoming a biological father for the first time. Though he pressed T'Pring to join him on Earth, a rift had come between them largely due to the intensive retraining in the true Vulcan way that her well-meaning family had put her through.
From 12 to 17, T'Pring worked hard at meeting their expectations. She undertook a belated Kahs-wan at age 14. This rite of passage was soon followed by a formal bethrotal. Talk of the arranged nuptials were already common and T'Pring turning 17 when Paul's sister, Starfleet Captain Tania Desjani was tasked to escort a delegation to Vulcan for a round of diplomatic talks. She was relentless in her insistance to take her niece to the Oor mountains for a vacation.
The two-week hiking trip still stands in T'Pring's mind as a defining time. Several months later, she faced blunt disapproval as she announced her intentions to leave for Earth but her mind was made up. She arrived in time to take and fail her entrance exams in Starfleet. Her final refusal to return to Vulcan had the engagement broken.
Her initial failure being entirely expected, T'Pring spent the next year trying to renew with her Human adoptive family while studying up intensively. Though she just passed the next session, her overall performance increased steadily. Four years later, she became Ensign T'Pring Desjani.
It was during her Academy years that T'Pring first met Sulek. They kept regular contact through the years following their respective graduation. Spurned by his bethroted through a formal challenge in the past, Sulek made a decision to reject a second arranged union in favour of T'Pring. When news of their joint assignment to the Hurucan sector was confirmed, the two were formally bonded and embarked on their journey to the Hurucan Sector.
