A Task Force is an operational unit of starships, typically fewer than twenty in number. Task Forces are typical overseen by a Commodore or Rear Admiral, or the Captain of a capital starship.

At one time within Sixth Fleet, task forces were administrative units of four or five vessels and outposts, including Task Force 1, Task Force 2, Task Force 3, and Associate Simulations. Task Forces were overseen by Task Force Advisors

The Sixth Fleet Task Force system was replaced in Nov. 2011 with a Sim Support Team.
