The Loneliest Rescue Mission was the 5th Bismarck mission and ran from May 30 – July 30, 2007.

With Commander Alexandra Kane being called away on assignment, Lt Commander Taylor Fields is stuck in command, and the USS Bismarck is assigned to escort the USS Peking back from Outpost 356. The Peking was a research vessel which had been attacked while doing research in the Gamma Quadrant. Fields was also advised to watch out for any sign of suspicious activity, because the attack on the Peking was unprovoked and by an vessel of unknown origin. The trip there was peaceful, but there were some strange reading being taken. Engineering and Ops crew from the Bismarck were assigned to the Peking to assist with repairs, with Lieutenant Pallett in charge of that ship's engineering department. Evidence of sabotage began to present itself, and the two ships were attacked. They soon withdrew, but Captain Langdon was pointed out to the saboteur, but, during the process, he injured a few officers. He was being controlled by the species that had attacked the Peking. The ship's origin was believed to be that of pirates.
The alien ship appeared again, but this time with reinforcements. The Captain of the ship, before opening fire, revealed they were taking revenge on Starfleet for defeating the Dominion, but it was not revealed what relation the ships had to the Dominion. A security officer with EOD experience, MacHines, successfully detaches Langdon’s bomb from the anti-matter tank, and Rhodes beams it into space, using the Bismarck’s hull to shield the Peking . The Bismarck suffers only minor damage and minor injuries. Langdon regains self-control long enough to advise Fields on the aliens and how best to disable their ship, then passes out. The aliens penetrate a hole in Bismarck ’s shields and board the ship.
Bismarck and Peking suffer damage in the battle but destroy the attacking enemy vessel and make their way towards Starbase 836. Bismarck arrives at Starbase 836 for repairs and shore leave. Major James Thompson has been assigned as Bismarck’s new Marine Platoon Commander, arrives aboard the Bismarck, and cuts the Marines’ leave short to resume training.

- Lieutenant Connor Rhodes is awarded the Captain's Star.
- Marine Captain Jason Langdon is awarded the Honor of Excellence.
