A Tholian

As of 2386, the Tholians have been relatively quiet.

When a malfunctioning Memodis computer (see entry: Dogossi) blasted the USS Athena with chronoton particles, the Athena was sent to the year 2342. There they found the Tholians exploring the area, encasing the Enterprise C in a tractor web. With a little ingenuity, the flagship was freed without knowing their help came from a future source.

It is well known that the Federation was at war with the Tholians before the journeys of the Enterprise-D. Kyle Riker (Will Riker's father) was an Ambassador during this period and narrowly escaped a vicious attack on at least one occassion.

Tholian silk is of unparralled quality and is valued as an export. First Contact with the Tholians occurred with the Enterprise 1701 (no suffix). Spock was in command when Kirk was temporarially lost in Interspace. Tholians are reputed to be extremely punctual, and see delays as a form of deception. Little else has been discovered of this reclusive race.
