Tim was born to Starfleet Lieutenant Commander Jim McGee and his wife Sharon in 2354. Tim was their only child, and the couple decided to settle on the colony of Penthara IV to give their son a sense of stability that the life of a Starfleet brat usually lacked. While his father was off planet on assignment, Tim and his mother fully immersed themselves in life on Penthara.
Tim had a fairly normal childhood. He saw his father fairly frequently for him being a Starfleet Officer and they would take trips to other planets in the Federation. In 2368, when Tim turned 14, Penthara was struck by a comet that caused sever seismic activity on the planet. Tim and his mother were evacuated to shelters with the rest of the planet’s population, while the USS Enterprise-D assisted the planet’s scientists in correcting the damage caused by the comet. Tim and several other children in the colony were brought aboard the Enterprise for medical examinations to determine if there was any damage to the inhabitants of Penthara. It was while he was aboard that Tim realized that he wanted to be in Starfleet like his dad.
Tim was accepted to Starfleet Academy in 2372. It was during this time that the Federation first encountered the Dominion. Life in San Francisco was anything from what it had been in previous years. By the outbreak of the war, curfews were in place and Starfleet cadets were assisting Earth Police with sweeps for Founder activity. Tim was on one such patrol in 2372 when Admiral Leyton’s attempt to take control of Earth failed. Tim spent most of his time at the Academy trying to focus on his school work rather than involving himself too heavily in the war effort. He was more of a scientist than a soldier.
He graduated in 2376 and was immediately assigned to the USS Berlin as a junior science officer. The Berlin was tasked with assisting in reconstruction efforts after the Dominion War. Tim didn’t get much a chance to analyze very much phenomenon in those first few years. By 2378, Starfleet returned to their original mandate of exploration and the Berlin was sent to explore the area between the Bajoran system and the Gamma Quadrant. It was during an astronomical survey of an unexplored nebula, that the ship was hit by high levels of radiation. Tim assisted the Chief Science Officer in analyzing the radiation and thus enabled the Chief Medical Officer to formulate a serum against it.
He was promoted to Lieutenant junior grade for his efforts and made Beta Shift science officer. This allowed him many more opportunities to show his abilities. He became good friends with the ship’s Assistant Engineer and Counselor. During this time, he was convinced to play in several ship concerts once it was discovered he could play the piano. His skills on the piano actually got him dates with several junior officers who were impressed with his musical talents.
In 2383, he was part of a landing party that was investigating a Starfleet signal coming from a seemingly barren planet. Tim and the First Officer were separated from the rest of the group and taken hostage by the planet’s lone inhabitant: a Founder who had been exiled from the Great Link. The changeling intended on killing them both and taking on one of their forms, however, Tim was able to reconfigure his tricorder to emit a high energy signal that destabilized the changeling’s ability to keep a solid form. The two escaped back to the ship and the Captain had the planet quarantined. Tim was promoted to Assistant Chief Science officer for his quick thinking. He served the next few years with distinction and in 2385 was promoted to Chief Science Officer aboard the USS Cambrian-A with a promotion to full Lieutenant.

Medical/Psychology Report:
Timothy seems to be in good physical condition for a boy his age. I can detect no adverse effects from the particulate dust thrown into Penthara IV’s atmosphere. It is my judgment that he is free to return to the planet with no need for further medical consultation on this matter.

USS Enterprise - D
Lieutenant j/g. McGee appears to be healing well after his run-in with the exiled changeling. Judging from the wounds that he sustained in the encounter, I can surmise that the changeling intended to take on Lieutenant McGee’s form rather than Commander Rogers’. It would’ve been easier to avoid detection as a junior officer. However, the lieutenant’s broken arm has set nicely and he should only require a few more treatments for the pain.
