USS Apollo (NCC-67226)

Originally commissioned as the USS Helios, this Steamrunner-class vessel served during the Tzenkethi and Dominion Wars. In 2377 however, a Nebula-class starship named Apollo was destroyed, and her former Captain assumed command. After recieving special dispensation from Starfleet Command, the ship's official designation was changed from USS Helios to USS Apollo, though the NCC registry remained the same.

Relaunched into active service in 2378, the ship was deployed to Starbase 218, and was routinely involved in patrols along the Klingon and Gorn borders. Sergeant Julian J. Raiden served aboard during this time, as did Lieutenant Rikka Lys. In 2383 however, the ship was involved in a battle with pirates and suffered extensive damage. Because of it's remote location, and the sheer magnitude of damage sustained, Starfleet elected to scuttle the ship rather than mount an extensive repair operation.

The USS Apollo designation was subsequently passed to a Nova-class vessel, the USS Apollo (NCC-11574-B).
