William Perry is a Staff Sergeant in the Marine Corps.

[edit] BACKGROUND

William Ethan Perry was born in Stockholm Sweden in 2353. His father was a Marine and his mother was with Starfleet Security. He has a brother, Jason Victor Perry who is two years younger. The brothers have always been competitive, even through out their childhood. They always competed over who had the better marks, where Jason usually won, who was better at sports, where Will normal had the glory. As well as in every thing else they did.

Growing up Will enjoyed sports and the outdoors, the family frequently travel and would go camping, where the boys would often get into trouble. One time when William was 14, the pair ran off to go 'exploring'. Will ending up falling of a cliff and broke his leg, Jason refused to leave his brother, instead he helped practically carry his brother more then 10 kilometers back to the families campsite.

After some help from a neighboring campsite, where they luckily was a paramedic and nurse, they stabilized Will enough to transport him out of the forest and to a nearby town. After a week in the hospital Will was realized and the family returned home. William's rebellious streak still hasn't died out, even today, he is known to take risks and has developed a great passion for extreme sports.

In school William's outgoing energetic nature often got him in trouble, he got mediocre grades and was almost expelled from Duchess of Västergötland High School twice. When he was 16 William decided he wasn't to try to get into Starfleet, his father was even happier when he told him he wanted to be a marine officer like him. However while William did graduate high school he was informed that his marks were not high enough to get him into to the academy. William was devastated, but instead decided to enlist, hoping to one day earn a commission, somehow.

In 2371 Private William Perry arrived at Camp Pendleton, somewhere he had actually been several times before with his father, Private Perry quickly feel into the routine of marine training, excelling in all combat aspects. He also did reasonably well in the tactics and leadership portions of his training, but struggled with some of the more technical aspects, like the basic engineering course in maintenance and similar tasks. Regardless of some of his short fallings, in 2372 Perry was promoted to Private First Class (PFC) but turned down several offered assignments. PFC Perry remained at Pendleton for another year, taking Advanced Weapons Training and, much to his fathers joy, Sniper Training.

In 2373, with rising tensions with the Dominion, Lance Corporal Perry was assigned as a Sniper in 2nd Platoon, Delta Company, 2nd Regiment of the 47th Combat Recon Brigade, part of the 3rd Marine Division. At the same time, Jason graduated high school, much to his parents, and Will's surprise, Jason also enlisted, but in Security. Will knew Jason could have easily been accepted into the Academy, and while he'd never tell anyone, believes that part of the reason Jason enlisted instead of becoming and officer, was to be on the same level as Will.

The out break of the Dominion War Perry became very busy, his unit severed in several large engagements, including the Siege of AR-558 and the Battle of Betazed. At the end of the war William was reassigned to the Nebula Class USS Lepus (NCC-5414-B). Lance Corporal Perry was also promoted to Corporal, something Will was happy about as it meant he still out ranked Jason, who had already risen to crewman.

The Lepus served as Williams home for the next 8 years, first as a Sniper and then in 2379 he was promoted to Sergeant and took as Platoon First Sergeant. During his first 2 years on the Lepus Perry worked to keep his competitive nature more in check, knowing he could not act like a teenage his entire life. On the Lepus Will also earned a reputation as quiet the player, while he had a string of sort lived relationships he did manage to commit to a single person for almost 2 years.

In 2381, the Lepus was involved in a boarder dispute with a rouge Romulan starship. The battle ended in a draw, with both ships disabling each other, and with reinforcements on the way, each returned to their own side of the Neutral Zone. While leading a squad of a marines to repel a boarding party, William saved one of the Lepus Paramedics, Petty Officer David Kelly. After the battle the two began dating, and for the first time, Will became exclusive with someone.

However in late 2383 the Lepus was destroyed, a saboteur believed to be working for the Orion Syndicate. The saboteur managed to get a malicious computer virus into the Lepus main computer core, it systematically corrupted the ships core files. The senior officers managed to determine the program was actually intended to disable the ships systems, kill the crew and then take the ship to the Syndicate. They managed to stall the program long enough to beam down almost all the crew down to an M-Class planet. Several members of the crew, including then CPO Kelly was killed. The Captain managed to override the program and pilot the ship into the systems star, destroying it and keeping it out of the hands of the syndicate.

Two weeks later the surviving crewmembers were rescued by the Galaxy Class USS Coventry. With the loss of his ship, and the one person he really loved, Perry was assigned as the Platoon First Sergeant to the Prometheus Class USS Cutnell (NCC-82475). However Perry was lest out going, and much more introverted. However instead of dealing with his emotional problems, Will simply bottled them up and drown them with alcohol.

In late 2384 the Cutnell was patrolling the area of the Federation that boarder Breen Space. While passing by a nebula the ship detected some very strange readings, which upon closer inspection turned out to be a Borg Cube. The Cutnell made the decision to engage the vessel and the managed to successfully destroy the cube.

During the battle the Cutnell's Marine Detachment suffered several losses, including the loss of its senior officers. The Captain made the decision to promoted Perry to Staff Sergeant, and made him 'Acting' Platoon Commander. The vessel finished it’s mission over the next four months.

However in 2385 Staff Sergeant Perry was transferred to the Sovereign Class USS Challenger (NCC-85824), as Company First Sergeant. William was actually transported to the Challenger via Apra Station and taken there onboard the USS Rutherford, where Jason was now serving as Master-At-Arms.

Later that year he was transferred to the icy Sigma Librae Outpost as the small base's Chief of Security. However within a year as the base began to grow substantially he was reassigned, as Sector Command felt his posting now required an officer. He then took an extended leave using the close to a years worth of accumulated leave time he had, he spent a majority of it on Earth seeing his family and old friends before returning to duty.

Physical Description
Tall and lean William was raised by a Marine and Security Officer, he and his brother alike were both raised spending a great deal of time outside and playing sports. As such Will is in excellent physical condition. He keeps his appearance neat and simple. While he is not overly opposed to them he prefers to where BDU's instead of the standard duty uniform. Preferring the extra freedom of movement.
