[edit] Planetary Origins
The Zerric first became known to the Federation in 2379, after the First Contact with their species occurred near Alpha Centauri, in a heavily damaged Zerric Warship. The Zerric People have been hesitant to disclose extensive information about their history, this is reportedly due to their varied genetics, and less than honorable past.
The little bits of historical data salvaged from the only known Zerric Warship, suggest that the Zerric Homeworld, was thrown from its orbit by its own rotation. Records indicate this may have been due to drastic over mining of ultra-lite minerals for the Zerric warships, from massive deposits in one hemisphere of the planet. While some Federation scientists doubt that such a situation would cause a planet to be thrown from its axis, others are not so confidant. Either way, the true cause of Zerra Prime's departure and rogue status are unverifiable.
[edit] Genetic Adaptiveness
ADAPTIVE: Due to the nature of the Zerric's adaptive DNA, individual Zerric may exhibit vastly differing features, however this is typically limited to minor adaptive adjustments. (e.g. Gills, Sealed Ear-Pods, thick leather-like skin, third eyelids, webbed digits, or even additional joints)
These genetic mutations are ALWAYS passed to offspring, regardless of parental gender. Despite 99.8% of genetic alterations being minor, occasionally, certain DNA combinations, can create MAJOR variations. As such Zerric Parents must be DNA tested prior to conception to ensure no conflicting genetic alterations are present. This fact has severely limited the Zerric Population in present times.
Many Zerric have resorted to reproducing with non-Zerric, which has presented its own unique situations. Not the least of which is the Zerric DNA's adaptive nature, allowing many Zerric Hybrids to further enhance the strengths of the other species but also to mitigate some of their weaknesses. Due to this "super" effect, the Zerric Hybrids tend to be shunned by both parent races, and lead solo lives, such as mercenaries, and freighter captains.
[edit] Military Forces
The Zerric Military Forces are all that remain of the once Great Zerric People. The roughly 300 warships of the Zerric Armada answer to Fleet Colonel Bella Vaelir, who holds the title of Khan, Zerric Imperial Forces.
The Zerric Military Forces, have petitioned Starfleet as of 4.30.2386, for admittance into Starfleet. However, with no current homeworld, and no non-military personnel, Starfleet is dealing with an extremely atypical scenario for Admittance.
As of January 2387, Zerric Scientists, have determined that if current trends continue, the Full-Blooded Zerric Population will be extinct within 150 years, as such, the Zerric Leadership has disbanded the Imperial Fleet, surrendering all military resources to the Federation. Additionally, all serving Zerric Officers have been absorbed into Starfleet.
[edit] Technology
At the height of Zerric military and technological power, they were on par with mid-24th century Starfleet. However, the height of Zerric power was achieved shortly before the construction of the current remaining Zerric Armada.
